This is an event that Serge Gainsbourg's fans have been awaiting a long time. It’s the opening to the public of his house on the Rue de Verneuil. Echoing this event, the Bar Aristide du Lutetia is offering a beautiful free exhibition entitled Gainsbourg – Toujours (Gainsbourg – Always). Come and get acquainted with this complex and intriguing creative giant…

The Maison de Gainsbourg

Amidst the elegant streets of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, there’s no doubt that Serge Gainsbourg's house stands out, due to its walls covered in fan graffiti. Within these tagged ramparts awaits the refuge of the singer-songwriter, actor, composer, and director. This is where he enjoyed family life with Jane Birkin, Kate and their daughter Charlotte, and where he composed so many memorable songs. Preserved intact since his death, the house allows us to better understand his personality while taking us back to the 70s and 80s. A little further down the Rue de Verneuil is a museum, bookstore and bar entirely dedicated to Gainsbourg, inviting you to extend your knowledge of his life and work even further.

A Gainsbourg exhibition

A true haven for art lovers, the Bar Aristide at the Hôtel Lutetia mirrors the opening of the Gainsbourg House on the Rue de Verneuil with a special exhibition. With the collaboration of several galleries from the Carré Rive Gauche, it offers you the opportunity to discover and admire photos by Jean-Jacques Bernier, Claude Azoulay and Jean-Claude Deutsch, retracing several periods of Gainsbourg's life. Moving family photos and legendary portraits each show a facet of the artist’s personality.

Immerse yourself in the atmosphere of Serge Gainsbourg’s Saint-Germain-des-Prés on the occasion of the opening of the Gainsbourg House on the Rue de Verneuil as well as the museum dedicated to him on September 20th. Treat yourself to a delightful stroll from the Hôtel des Mines along the Boulevard Saint-Michel and then up the Boulevard Saint-Germain to the famous address.
